PUE Calculator
Enter your total facility power and your IT equipment power to calculate Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Data Center Infrastructure Efficiency (DCiE).

PUE = Total facility power ÷ IT equipment power. A PUE of 1.0 is the theoretical ideal — every watt goes to IT.
What Counts as a Good PUE?
< 1.2
Excellent
Modern, well-optimized, often free-cooled facilities.
1.2 – 1.5
Efficient
A strong target for enterprise data centers.
1.5 – 2.0
Average
Typical of older or mixed-use facilities.
> 2.0
Inefficient
Significant overhead lost to power and cooling.
A Facility Number Needs IT-Layer Data
PUE describes the whole facility, but improving it means acting at the device and rack level — where energy is actually consumed. Without per-device power, cabinet-level thermal data, and placement information, PUE is a scorecard you can report but not move.
Per-device power
Measure consumption where it happens, not just at the meter.
Cabinet thermal data
Find hotspots that force over-cooling of the whole room.
Placement & capacity
Right-size cooling and density with real data.
